LOUISE SPARGO

"I'm a notorious pain-in-the-butt for any costume designer...

for me clothes are a kind of character" MERYL STREEP

My passion for fashion and design began well before tertiary education so after completing an arts degree at the University of Western Australia, I embraced the opportunity to work in the Fashion Industry.

I spent many years working in different areas of fashion, from retail to buying to merchandising.

In 1994 I was recruited to work on a feature film. It was the culmination of all of my different experiences and my dream job.

Film making, exploring looks for characters was my inspiration and my joy. I was hooked. I have remained in the Industry since that first film, “The Sum of Us”. After starting a family my focus changed to working on TVC’s and print.

I have worked on campaigns for corporates such as Tourism Australia, Comm Bank, Westpac, NAB, VW, Bonds, Speedo, Armani, Uber Eats and MLA, to name just a few.

I have also had the privilege of working on some incredible print campaigns, notably with the renowned photographer Anne Geddes.

My enthusiasm for design, for interpreting characters, for delivering that silent message about a character grows stronger every job.

I draw inspiration from art, literature as well as films of every era, genre and culture.

Collaborating with Directors and working to realize their vision is a constant source of inspiration that continues to challenge and excite me.
